The Gods Who Found Earth
Sent down to judge a newborn world, Bastet and Anubis survive a predator's ambush, a collapsing trench, and a flash flood together — and come back with opposite verdicts, one of them hiding what he really found underground.
Neterios's high observatory is losing its only feed on a small blue world when Ra sends Bastet and Anubis down together to decide its fate, with the Guardians Femi and Babu and a column of builder-robots in tow. On the ground at Jebel Irhoud a predator guts a robot for its power-core, and the chase to recover it opens a trench that starts to swallow the whole party. Bastet syncs the robots with a raising-chant to brace the collapse while Anubis, working alone along the ridge, finds something buried in the same fault line and says nothing. A flash flood nearly finishes what the trench started before they scrape back through a closing bridge-window to give Ra their verdict — and Anubis loses the argument in front of the whole council, walking away with a fistful of secret evidence that the audience alone sees him keep.
