The Scattering
With Caesar's soldiers breaching the vault and Salugi hunting the light of every waking Bridge, Vivek races Femi and Babu across the ancient towers to send all eighteen Good Luck Cats into hidden human lives before the network — and the guardians themselves — are lost.
The night the vault at Alexandria falls, Vivek pulls the eighteen Good Luck Cats out from under Caesar's soldiers and begins the only plan left: send each cat, one by one, through its own Bridge into a nameless future life. Salugi's hunters read the ritual's light and close faster with every tower that wakes. On the last night, the remaining cats gather to sing the chant that can open every last door at once — and the song itself gives away their position. Femi and Babu hold the breach so Vivek can finish, and are pulled under and lost. Vivek completes the Scattering alone and is left with nothing but a map of eighteen points and no one to help him hold it.
