Heliopoly Rising
The Code Trekkers punch a dying Bridge window onto ground that is still being born — and find lobbyists already staking a city that does not exist, while the first tower has minutes to top out before the door home slams.
The first official crossing is not first. On the unformed plateau of Heliopoly, Khnum is still throwing the clay when Sammy Buildmore and three other lobbyists for a 'city authority' that has no charter drive Land Parcel Deeds into living ground, and the clay treats their paper as geology. The Nine come through anyway, SX Shuttle I sinking under them, with a Bridge window that will not wait: if the first tower is not topped out and blessed by Ptah before the field dies, they are stranded and Earth loses the only tested door. They raise the spine with gods, Guardians and Upzie robots on the same lines — Bastet's old raising-chant, now with human voices in it — and the city hardens into being. Then the blessing follows the deeds, not SIZA's streets: City Hall, the bank and the tax house exist before the people do, property-line cracks race the gate pad, and a second, unofficial door coughs a crate stamped Narco City.
