The Cat Kin (canon note, 2026-09-06)

Bastet's 18 are the only Good Luck Cats — named, bound to a Bridge, followed by the story. But the origin-robots that terraformed early Earth (see "The deep past" above) built and crossed countless other felines over the millennia; in the modern age, breeders and gene-labs keep making more. The in-world population of these constructed/crossed cats is effectively uncountable — nobody claims a census. Fadwa has illustrated a small, named handful as individuals worth following; the rest exist only as background lore, never as a roster to complete. Call them the Kin — kin of the eighteen, not hybrids of them.
