When a stone shaft collapses on the night the great silence finally breaks, Amon and Thoth must save a dying priest, a drowning granary, and a secret two thousand years in the keeping — before one suspicious rival ends it all before dawn.
Deep inside the Pyramid of Giza, an astronomer-priest touches the ancient Listening Stone at the exact moment of alignment and the towers answer for the first time in ages — but the flare traps him in a collapsing, flooding shaft. Amon, the temple's Guide of Secrets, digs him out with Thoth's own voice guiding the rescue, only for the light to draw guards and a rival priest's suspicion. To buy cover, Amon turns a rescue into a public rite — a sung offering that is really a coded status report to Neterios — while the Nile's flood crest bears down on the royal granary. They save the grain and the secret, but only by paying a debt to a corruptible rival and by discovering, through Thoth, that the towers didn't wake for nothing: something is gathering far to the east, and a storm both real and prophetic closes the episode on an unanswered question.
